Blumarine sent their fall 2011 collection down the Milan Fashion Week runway today and it was full of bright and tonal ensembles. The vivid colors were shown together with shoes and handbags matching the fabric from the tops and skirts. The collection evoked a 1960’s and early 1970’s vibe, showing the fashion world that bright color is here to stay, at least through fall. The two distinct handbag styles on the Blumarine runway were a casual, east/west tote and a sassy shoulder bag. Both styles were shown in bright colors and fabrics to match the clothing line and blend into the entire look. The tote bag on the Blumarine runway featured two top handles and buckle details on the sides. The tote was small-medium and could easily be used for daytime activities and fit a wallet, camera, lipstick, keys and smart phone. The shoulder bag on Blumarine’s Milan Fashion Week runway featured a short strap and allowed the body of the bag to be tucked right under the armpit. The shoulder bag was reminiscent of the strap lengths from roughly ten years ago when the Fendi Baguette was tucked under the armpits of the fashion-savvy everywhere.
